iPhone 7 Headphone Gamble Could Pay Off

Apple has been known to introduce new products that ignore a piece of technology that has been standard for years, so when rumors started emerging that the Apple might get rid of the 3.5mm headphone jack in the iPhone 7 many were not that surprised. Apple is not commenting on this but it’s certainly worth pondering the possibility that it could happen.

Instead of using that old 3.5 mm analog headphone jack, people will have to plug their wired headphones using a headphone to Lightning port adapter or use a Bluetooth headset. Lightning port headphones are available but are not mainstream at this time.

The good news is digital audio (Lightning / Bluetooth) does sound better and gives a wider range of sound but will people buy it?

I think Apple’s goal is to sell more Bluetooth headphones and use the extra space on the bottom on the phone to add a second speaker improving the sound on the device, we will have to wait for the official release later this year.
